World’s largest canal lock built-in Netherland:
The world’s largest canal lock has been unveiled at Ijmuiden, a small port city, in the Port of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Canal lock was inaugurated by Willen Alexander, the monarch of the Netherland. Starting in 2016 the project is slated to be complete by 2019 but due to the pandemic and local issues, the project was delayed and completed on January end,2022. The Ijmuiden sea lock is 500-meter (1,640-feet) in length and 70-meter in breadth making it the biggest canal lock in the world.
Though it's important to note that the Ijmuiden sea lock is there already, now after 100 years administrator of the nation decided to make a new lock to enhance the accessibility of the port of Amsterdam and boost the region’s economy by providing space for the increasingly large seafaring vessels. The ships no longer need to wait for a favourable water depth, as the lock provide deep enough water hold capacity.
