The government of India launch SMILE scheme for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise:
Dr Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment launched the "SMILE: Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise" a central scheme. It's an umbrella scheme for the welfare of the Transgender community and the Beggars.
SMILE consist of two scheme namely Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of Begging and the Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Welfare of Transgender Persons.
Under the scheme govt. of will provide for skill improvement and livelihood, scholarship for education and rehabilitation measurement. A Composite Medical Health facility in convergence with PM-JAY supporting Gender-Reaffirmation surgeries via selected facilities will be provided for Transgenders.
