Soil Health Card Day is celebrated on 19th February:
Every year on 19 February Govt. of India observes Soil Health Card Day on 19th February. On this day(19th Feb) PM Modi launched Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme in 2015 at Suratgarh in Rajasthan. The day is to celebrate to create awareness about the benefits of soil health checks. This year marks the seventh year of the launch of the SHC Scheme. Soil health cards will be issued every two years. The government of India aims at covering every farmer under the scheme on a fast-track basis.
Some about Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme:
The scheme is promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare. The card would provide details about the nutritional deficiencies in the soil and the recommended fertilizer for improvement of the soil as well as yield. The card will measure the status of the sample soil with respect to 12 parameters, namely N,P,K (Macro-nutrients) ; S (Secondary- nutrient) ; Zn, Fe, Cu, Mn, Bo (Micronutrients); and pH, EC, OC (Physical parameters).
