SHERA- election mascot for the Punjab election:
At the onset of the Punjab State Assembly Election, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office of Punjab revealed its election mascot, Shera through a Facebook live event. 5 differently-abled people were invited as a guest for the event as a sign of inclusion. The mascot Shera is depicted as a lion. The mascot dressed in traditional outfits representing the rich cultural heritage of the state of Punjab. Posters and cutouts of Shera will be used throughout the state, besides spreading voter awareness messages on social media to address the youths. The mascot was developed by Rahul Attreja and Jasvinder Singh, from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali.
The mascot was promoted and designed under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) project of the Election Commission. SVEEP project launched way back in 2009 with the aim to increase voter awareness and participation in the elections.
