Samsung becomes World’s top semiconductor company in 2021-
Samsung Electronics, the South Korean electronics manufacturing supergiant topples USA based chipmaker Intel to become the world's top semiconductor company by revenue in 2021, as per the report published by Counterpoint Technology Market Research a leading tech analyst company. In comparison to the previous year, Samsung posted a steep revenue increase of 32% while Inter posted just an increase of 0.5%. The tremendous result of Samsung is based on the increasing demand in the DRAM and NAND flash market.
Major handsets chipmaker Qualcomm and MediaTek hold the position of 5 and 7 respectively. While major graphic card makers Nvidia and AMD ranked 9th and 10th.
What is Semiconductor?
It falls in between Conductor and Insulator. In semiconductors, increased temperature result in increased conductivity property and a decrease in temperature result in increased insulator property. Examples of semiconductors are silicon, germanium, gallium arsenide etc. These semiconductors are used for the manufacturing of Integrated circuits.
