Mumbai, India was chosen as the host for the 2023 International Olympic Committee Session:
India will host the 2023 International Olympic Committee Session as Mumbai is chosen as the venue for the meeting with a historic 99% Vote in favour. Earlier New Delhi hosted the 86th IOC Session in 1983 and 40 years later it comes back to India.
This will be a significant development for India’s aspiration for the Olympics and will celebrate the start of a new era for Indian sport. Dr Narinder Batra President of the Indian Olympic Association pointed out that this is absolutely a great achievement and will play a crucial role in India's long-term goal of hosting the Olympic Games.
About International Olympic Committee Session:
An International Olympic Committee Session is an annual meeting of the members of the IOC, comprising 101 voting members and 45 honorary members. During the session discussion and decision regarding key activities of the global Olympics movement including the adoption or amendment of the Olympic Charter, the election of IOC members and office bearers and the election of the host city of the Olympics.
