Bappi Lahiri the legendary singer cum composer passes away at age 69 suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and recurrent chest infection. He breathed his last in the Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital, as doctors confirmed.

Alokesh Lahiri aka Bappi Lahiri born in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. His family was full of musical persons. His parents were singer of Indian classical music and Shyama Sangeet (Song dedicated to goddess Kali). Kishore Kumar was his maternal uncle. 

Bappi Lahiri started his composing career with Nanha Shikari, a hindi movie. After the film Aap Ki Khatir his fame and stature as a music composer reached the height. And with his music on the Disco Dancer film(1982) he became a well known name to every Indian household, even today the songs of this film continuosly features into the top chart of every music list.

Bappi Lahiri was famous for his disco style music. He is also known for his unique style consist of gold chains and other gold ornaments.But he also ventures into the romantic music with his all time famous tracks like Chalte-Chalte and Chirodini Tumi Je Amar. Through his disco style music he fusioned Indian music with other western sounds which became a instant hit among Indian youths. Bappi Lahiri got into the Guinness Book of World Records for recording over 180 songs across 33 films in 1986.
