Lavender becomes the brand product of J&K’s Doda district:
Dr Jitendra Singh, The current Union Minister of Science & Technology recently chaired the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting. It is a meeting between several districts administration of Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting is aimed at sharing ideas about district development and other areas of cooperation. During the recently concluded meeting, the decision to designate Lavender as a brand product of Doda District was taken, under the ‘One District, One Product’ initiative of the Modi Government.
Why Lavender as Brand Product Doda District?
The reason is Doda District of Jammu & Kashmir was the place where India’s Purple Revolution started.
Purple Revolution:
Purple Revolution is related to the cultivation of Lavender. It was launched under the AROMA Mission of the central government. The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) is the implementing agency for AROMA Mission.
