KARNATAKA GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO BUILD A MILITARY SCHOOL IN THE NAME OF SANGOLLI RAYANNA :


      Karnataka is going to build a military school in the name of Sangolli Rayanna. On Wednesday, January 26, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the state government is ready to set up the school at a cost of Rs 180 crore.

      Bommai said construction work on the school would be completed this year. After laying a wreath at his statue here on the 191st Remembrance Day of Rayanna, the Chief Minister said that the state government has already released Rs 55 crore for this purpose. He said talks are underway with the Defense Ministry to adopt the school. He added that the Ministry of Defense is likely to turn it into a military school, with hostels and all necessary facilities coming up on 100 acres of land. The Chief Minister said that his tomb would be constructed at the place where 19th-century icon Rayanna was martyred at Nandagada. He added that approval has been granted to build a rock garden on 10 acres of land in his birthplace Sangolli, and monuments are being built to give a glimpse of Rayanna's life to the younger generation.

He  was an Indian revolutionary, military chief (Shetsanadi) , and warrior in the Kittur princely state in the present-day Indian state of Karnataka.
