 The Legend of Birsa Munda a book authored by Tuhin A Sinha & Ankita Verma:

Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharastra has released a book titled ‘The Legend of Birsa Munda’. The book was authored by Tuhin A Sinha and Ankita Verma.

The authors claimed that this book is based on a true story. It depicts how Birsa Munda mobilized his tribe to form a formidable army to challenge the British authority by his famous slogan Abua raj Abua deshum[our land, our rule]. Moreover, the book also points out how he stands against forced conversions of Christian Missionaries and the unjust treatment of capitalists. Ultimately they conclude with the note of how Birsa Munda and his movement contributed to the freedom struggles of India.

SPECIAL NOTES FOR ASPIRANTS-

• Portrait of Birsa Munda hangs in the Parliament Museum, making him the only tribal leader who has been honoured so. 

• It is interesting to note that in childhood Birsa converted to Christianity and was renamed Birsa David, later he realised how missionaries forced people in conversion of their religion so he shifted to his own Traditional tribal culture and pursue his own people to get back to their native religion. For this act, he came to know as Dharti Aaba.
