The 18th Kachai Lemon Festival Began in Manipur || Some Information about the Festival, Kachai Lemon and Manipur || 2022 ||

THE 18TH KACHAI LEMON FESTIVAL BEGAN IN MANIPUR :

     

Like every year, the 18th edition of Kachai Lemon Festival started in Manipur this year from January 14. The festival started in the Local Ground of Kachai Village in Ukhrul district of the state and lasted for two days.

      The purpose of the Kachai Lemon Festival was to promote this unique variety of lemon fruit and to encourage lemon growers. A total of 260 stalls were set up at this year's 18th festival to showcase the rich reap of Kachai lemon. This year's theme was "Organic Kachai Lemon for Safe Environment and Rural Transformation". A training program for lemon growers was held at the festival.

      Contextually, Manipur's Kachai Lemon has been given Geographical Indication (GI) registration tag. These Kachai lemons have been widely grown in Kachai Village of Ukhrul district. Kachai lemon is considered unique because it is a rich source of ascorbic acid and is famous for its juice content. This is what makes this lemon different from other lemon varieties grown in other parts of the world.
