Tata Group Is Going to Replace Vivo as IPL's Title Sponsor || Some Useful Information about the Decision and IPL || 2022 ||

TATA GROUP IS GOING TO REPLACE VIVO AS IPL'S TITLE SPONSOR :

Cricket League Chairman Brijesh Patel told news agency PTI that Tata Group is going to be the title sponsor of Indian Premier League (IPL). Earlier, Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo was the title sponsor of IPL.

During IPL's governing council meeting on Tuesday, January 11, it has been decided to make Tata Group the title sponsor. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Vivo suspended their ties for IPL 2020. The reasons behind it were border tensions between India and China and growing anti-China sentiment. However, Vivo was back as the title sponsor of the 2021 IPL and had signed a Rs 2,200 crore deal for IPL title sponsorship rights from 2018 to 2022.

Two new teams are expected to be added to the marquee tournament from the 2022 edition. The two teams are Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Ventures and Irelia Company Pte Ltd (CVC Capital Partners) took ownership and management rights of two new franchises in October. RPSG Ventures made the highest bid of Rs 7,090 crore for Lucknow and CVC Capital Partners bid Rs 5,625 crore for a team which will be based out of Ahmedabad. Contextually, mega auction is expected to be held this year for players who have not been retained by the franchisees. Eight older franchises were eligible to hold up to four players. They were eligible to have up to four players with a maximum of three Indians, two foreign players and two uncapped Indians.
