Sumit Bhale, a renowned Lavani artist from Maharashtra has won a gold medal at the International Folk Art Festival in Dubai. Sumit Bhale with his energetic performance hit the stage with a spark. With his splendid performance Maharashtra’s splendor has been widely appreciated at the international platform.
Lavani is a genre of music popular in Maharashtra and is a combination of traditional song and dance, which is particularly performed to the beats of Dholki, a percussion instrument. The songs are sung in a quick tempo.
Lavani dance originated from Maharashtra in the 18th and 19th centuries. This dance form was popular in Peshawari Dynasty that was situated in Pune.
