Savita Punia will lead India Women's Hockey Team in the Upcoming Women's Hockey Asia Cup:
Indian women hockey team goalkeeper Savita Punia will lead the side in the upcoming Women's Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman. Regular captain Rani Rampal is recovering from an injury so Punia was named as the stand-in Captain.
31-year-old Savita Punia, nicknamed the 'Great Wall of India', hails from a small village of Haryana. She was awarded Arjuna Award in 2018.
Women's Hockey Asia Cup is held every 4 years. The winning team will be tagged as the champion of Asia and become qualified for the Women's Hockey World Cup The Indian team is the defending champion, winning the 2017 edition.
