ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI BECAME BEST FIFA MEN'S PLAYER 2021 :
The sixth edition of the Best FIFA Football Awards 2021 was held on Monday, January 17, 2022 at FIFA headquarters. As last time, Polish player Robert Lewandowski was named the Best Men's Player 2021. He had won the same award last time, ending the dominance of Messi and Ronaldo.
The 33-year-old Polish captain Lewandowski has been in good form for the past few years. Last season in the Bundesliga he broke the legendary Mueller's record by scoring 41 goals in a single campaign and last year, he scored 69 goals for the club and country. He has twice been named the best male player, equaling Ronaldo because Ronaldo has two such top honors. Although he did not win the Ballon d'Or 2021, there is much to be admired about his recent victory in the process, beating some competitors. Lewandowski received the most votes, and current PSG forward Messi and Liverpool winger Salah finished second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Barcelona's Alexia Putellas rose to the top of the women's category after winning the Ballon d'Or 2021.
Contextually, FIFA hosts the awards ceremony. Although the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony was cancelled in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony virtually went ahead.
