PROJECT "DUARE SARKAR" OF WB GOVT. HAS BEEN HONOURED WITH "AWARD OF EXCELLENCE" :
The Government of West Bengal has won the "Award of Excellence" for its public outreach program "Duare Sarkar". The award has been received by the West Bengal government under the Project Category of Computer Society of India's (CSI) e-Governance Awards, the ruling Trinamool Congress said on January 3.
"Duare Sarkar" was launched on 1 December 2020. The programme is an initiative of the Government of West Bengal to bring certain projects to the doorsteps of the people through camps organized at the gram panchayat and municipal ward levels. The CSI Special Interest Group (SIG) on e-Governance introduced a series of awards in 2002-03 in recognition of contributions to the field of e-Governance in the country under two categories, state and project. According to the CSI website, it is the largest and most professionally managed association. The award has been given to the West Bengal government a day after the "Duare Sarkar" camps were suspended due to the recent unusual increase in the Covid-19 cases. However, the camps are expected to be held on February 1. According to a source, more than 1.04 lakh camps have been organized in different districts of the state till the day of the awards.
