NEW CORONA VIRUS VARIANT "IHU" HAS BEEN FOUND IN FRANCE :
Scientists have identified a new strain of the virus in southern France that caused COVID-19. This finding has raised concerns in the minds of ordinary people as the world is already grappling with the highly altered omicron form of SARS-CoV-2.
The variant B.1.640.2 has been reported by researchers at the IHU Mediterranean Infection Institute in at least 12 cases. In addition, it has been linked to travel to the African country of Cameroon. Researchers is believing that it is important to anticipate how the variant will respond to infection and vaccine protection. Most vaccines currently in use target the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The virus enters the cell and infects it with the help of spike proteins. Fourteen amino acid substitutes, including the N501Y and E48K, and 9 deletions are present in the spike protein. Note that N501Y and E48K mutations have been also found in beta, gamma, theta, and omicron variants. However, B.1.640.2 has not yet been identified in other countries. For that, the World Health Organisation (WHO) also did not label it. According to researchers, RTPCR was performed in the lab on a nasopharyngeal sample collected from an adult in mid-November 2021. After that, the first case of the variant was found positive in his body. Although epidemiologist Eric Feigl-Ding said on Twitter that new variants often appear, there is no guarantee that they will be dangerous.
