National Tourism Day celebrated across India on 25 January:
Indian Government celebrate National Tourism Day every year on 25th January.
Govt. of India celebrates National Tourism Day to
recognise the contribution of tourism to the Indian economy. The day is also marked with an awareness campaign among Indians about the importance of tourism in the cultural, social and political system of India.
Ministry of Tourism is the nodal agency responsible for the day. It formulates various policies to fast-track the tourism sector of India by promoting and developing tourism sites.
On larger goal Govt. of India want to use tourism as a soft power tool that will spread the values of Indian Culture throughout the world with the tourism campaign named 'Incredible India'.
Are Tourism and Travel the same?
Though used synonymously they are not the same. Travel can be any type of movement of an individual or a group of people from one place to another. But Tourism, on the other hand, identifies with a movement for recreational purposes.
