National Girl Child Day Celebrated Across the Nation:
Every year on 24th January, the nation celebrates National Girl Child Day. It was Started way back in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The main objective of National girl child day is to provide necessary support and opportunity to the girls of India, promote awareness about the rights of girl children and Increase awareness about girls' education. Ultimately it aims at creating social awareness against female feticide, decreasing sex ratio, Gender bias and social stigma faced by girls in everyday life.
The Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt Smriti Zubin Irani will interact with children from across the country in an online event ‘Kanya Mahotsav’- #LadkiyanJahanKhushiyanwahan an event organised by UNICEF as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
Ministry of Culture will celebrate the National Girl Child Day through a Rangoli Utsav named 'UMANG'. Under which participating team will decorate 50 different locations of India where Road named after Female freedom fighter or the female role model of India.
