NAOMI OSAKA IS AT TOP OF FORBES' HIGHEST PAID FEMALE ATHLETES LIST :

On Thursday 13 January, business magazine Forbes published a list of the highest earning female athletes. According to that list, Naomi Osaka of Japan is the highest paid female athlete in the world. Four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka has helped raise awareness of mental health issues in sports.

Naomi Osaka earned $57.3 million in prize money and endorsements in 2021. Almost all of it came from the endorsement portfolio that added more than 10 brand partners in the last year and a half. Contextually, she withdrew from the French Open to focus on his mental health amid public outcry over a mandatory press conference at the Grand Slam. After the withdrawal, she said the public had a huge impact on her own mental well-being.

In the list, tennis player Serena Williams ($45.9 million), her older sister Venus Williams ($11.3 million), American gymnast Simone Biles ($10.1 million) and Spanish tennis player Garbine Mugurua ($8.8 million) were ranked second, third, fourth and fifth respectively. Tennis players achieved five out of 10 places in the list. Indian badminton star PV Sindhu was ranked seventh in the list with $7.2 million.
