JERRI HAMLET HAS BECOME FIRST "MILK VILLAGE" OF JAMMU & KASHMIR :

      Jerri has been declared the first "Milk Village" of Jammu & Kashmir. The administration has declared Jerri settlement in Reasi district as the first "Milk Village" in the union territory.

      A total of 57 units have been approved for the village under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS) since its inception as "Milk Village". Under this scheme, dairy units of 5 animals are alloted with a 50 per cent subsidy. Not only that, the scheme includes milking machines, bulk milk cooling unit at 50 per cent subsidy (maximum Rs 5 lakh), paneer making machine, khoya making, Dahi making, cream separator, ice cream making machine, butter and ghee making machine with max subsidy of Rs 3.5 lakh arrangement. In addition, the scheme has a arrangement for milk van with maximum subsidy of Rs 2 lakh and milk ATM subsidy of Rs 5 lakh. Contextually, the village has 73 separate dairy units including 370 cows. In addition, the village will provide financial security to local farmers.
