BABAR AZAM WAS NOMINATED AS CAPTAIN OF ICC MEN'S T20I TEAM OF 2021 :
Pakistan's Babar Azam was nominated the captain of the ICC Men's T20I team of 2021. However, no Indian was included in this team. Anyway, Babar was in his own best form in 2021 in the shortest format. He finished the tournament as the top run scorer, keeping his best in the T20 World Cup.
Overall, Pakistan captain Babar played 93 matches and scored 939 runs at an average of 37.56. Of these, he scored a century and 9 half-centuries. Not only that, but the way he captained Pakistan in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman had earned him a lot of praise. Apart from Babar, two other Pakistani players Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi were included in the ICC Men's T20I team. In addition, the team has two Australian players, Mitchell Marsh and Jose Hazlewood. Like Babar, Pakistan's wicketkeeper and batsman Rizwan was in his form like dream in the shortest format. In just 29 matches, he scored a remarkable 1326 runs with an average of 73.66 and he had a strike rate of 134.89. He was not only a batsman but he was also a strong wicketkeeper. Behind the stumps, he played a key role in helping Pakistan reach the semifinals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, finishing the tournament as the third-highest run-scorer. Another Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Afridi took 23 wickets in 21 matches at an average of 26.04 and with 7.86 economies. At just 21 years old, Shaheen has already made rapid improvements in his bowling. Hopefully, he will probably lead Pakistan's pace bowling unit for the next few years and will undoubtedly prove to be a formidable prospect.
Contextually, the 2021 ICC Men's T20I team includes Jos Buttler, Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam (c), Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, David Miller, Tabraiz Shamsi, Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mustafizur Rahman and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
