AIR INDIA WAS HANDED OVER TO TATA GROUP BY THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT :
On Thursday, January 27, the investment process for Air India was completed and the government formally handed over the management control of the airline to Talace Private Limited. Talace Private Limited is a subsidiary of Tata Group's holding company.
The day before taking over the airline, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran met the Prime Minister. After taking charge, he said, "We are totally delighted to have Air India back at the Tata group and are committed to making this a world-class carrier." The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a tweet with a picture, "Shri N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons called on PM @narendramodi." Chandrasekaran later visited the Air India headquarters here. Following a competitive bidding process, the government last year sold Air India to Talace Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Group's holding company, for Rs 18,000 crore. As part of the agreement, Tata Group was also handed over Air India Express and a 50 percent stake in ground handling arm Air India SATS.
