 44th Kokborok Day celebrated across Tripura:

Kokborok Day, also known as the Tripuri or Tiprakok Language Day, was celebrated across the State of Tripura on 19th January. The main aim of this day is to develop the Kokborok Language to a large extent in days to come, by promoting education on mother tongue and Kokborok literature.

Etymologically, Kok means Verbal and Borok means people. i.e the language of people. Kokborok a language of Sino-Tibetan origin, is the main native language of Tripura

19th January is chosen as the day of celebration because on this day Kokborok was recognised as one of the official languages in Tripura State.
