Odisha Has Announced Launch of a Social Security Scheme || Some Information about the Scheme and Odisha || 2021 ||

ODISHA HAS ANNOUNCED LAUNCH OF A SOCIAL SECURITY SCHEME FOR NEWSPAPAER HAWKERS:

      A social security scheme has been launched for all newspaper hawkers in Odisha. The state government of Odisha has announced the launch of the scheme on Tuesday 30 November. Under the scheme, all newspaper hawkers in the state will be identified and their records will be kept in a digital database by the Information and Republic department, through which their identity cards will be provided.

      The Chief Minister's office has made a statement while talking about the Social Security Scheme. According to the statement, hawkers who register with the Odisha Unorganized Worker's Social Security Board (OUWSSB) will get social security benefits under the scheme. If a hawker dies in an accident, his relative will be compensated Rs 2 lakh and if he dies of natural causes, his relative will be compensated Rs 1 lakh. In addition, if a hawker is permanently disabled due to an accident, he will get assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh. If a hawker loses both limbs, he will get Rs 80,000 and if one limb is damaged, he will get Rs 40,000. The state government will provide Rs 3,000 from CM's relief fund in two phases to each of the hawkers who have registered. According to a senior CMO official, hawkers have suffered huge losses as pandemic has affected the circulation of newspapers, as they perform an important function, so it was important to bring them under a social security scheme.
