MAGDALENA ANDERSSON HAS BEEN ELECTED AS FIRST FEMALE PRIME MINISTER OF SWEDEN :
Magdalena Andersson has been re-elected as Prime Minister of Sweden. She has been re-elected by Swedish lawmakers just days after she resigned as prime minister. She is ready to be the first female leader in Sweden's history.
Magdalena Andersson was elected prime minister a few days ago but had to resign that day. The reason was that her proposed budget was defeated and the coalition government she had hoped to lead was shattered. Once again elected prime minister, she said that she only wanted to form a minority government of her own party. She has assumed her role after a meeting with the King of the country on Tuesday 30 November. She has received 101 MP votes in her favor in a razor-thin vote in Sweden's divided parliament, with 173 voting against and 75 abstaining. According to the rules, a new prime minister can be elected unless a majority of lawmakers vote against them. She has taken over the post following the resignation of former Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. Löfven resigned as prime minister and leader of the Social Democrats party in early November, has since been leading a caretaker government. Andersson has served as Sweden's finance minister since 2014, having previously served as deputy director-general of the Swedish Tax Agency.
