INDIA'S HARNAAZ SANDHU HAS BROUGHT HOME THE MISS UNIVERSE CROWN :
India's Harnaaz Sandhu has won the new Miss Universe crown. After 21 years, an Indian has won the Miss Universe, before Lara Dutta won the title in 2000. Ms Sandhu has won the title representing India at the Miss Universe 2021 held in Eilat, Israel.
Miss Universe is an international beauty pageant that is held annually, with this it is one of the most watched pageants in the world. Miss Universe is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants, the other three being Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth. Ms Sandhu has won the Miss Universe crown, beating Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa and was presented the crown by former Miss Universe 2020 Mexico's Andrea Meza. Punjabi 21-year-old Ms Sandhu started her journey in the pageantry when she was just 17 years old. She was crowned Femina Miss India in 2019 and Miss Diva in 2021. She even finished in the Top 12 in Femina Miss India 2019. She also acted in two Punjabi films. When asked about the pressures young women face on a regular basis, she frankly said that the biggest problem young people face is that they try to compare themselves to others without believing in themselves, so believing in themselves is what makes them beautiful.
