CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL 2021 HAS BEEN CELEBRATED IN MEGHALAYA :

      Like every year, the famous Cherry Blossom Festival 2021 has been held in Meghalaya. The festival has run from November 25 to November 27, 2021 in the heart of Meghalaya. The three-day festival has been inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Satoshi Suzuki. Contextually, Satoshi Suzuki is Japan's Ambassador to India and the festival has been held at two venues, Ward's Lake and Polo Grounds in Meghalaya.

      Cherry Blossom, a flower of many plants of the genus Prunus or Prunus cerasus, is also called Japanese cherry and Sakura, usually referring to the ornamental cherry trees. It should not be confused with cherry trees which produce fruit for eating. The national flower of Japan is the Cherry Blossom, found in the Himalayas as well as cover east and west Khasi Hills. The flower is considered sacred among the Hindus of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, its leaves are used as a wreath during Maha Shivaratri and are hung on the prayer altar. The Cherry Blossom Festival includes live music and other activities such as pageants, dance competitions for entertainment. The festival includes a number of stalls representing their region through cuisine, arts and crafts and wine.
