Military exercise between Indian and Maldives in December 2021

A JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE CALLED EXERCISE EKUVERIN HAS BEEN HELD IN MALDIVES :

A 2021 joint military exercise called Exercise Ekuverin has recently been held. The exercise is being held between the Indian Army and the Maldivian Army. This year's exercise has been held in the Maldives, the first edition of the exercise was also held in the Maldives in 2008. The 2019 exercise was held in Pune, India.

The word "Ekuverin" in Exercise Ekuverin stands for "Friends" in the Dhivehi language. This Dhivehi language is actually Indo-Aryan language and is used in Lakshadweep and Maldives including India. Exercise Ekuverin is very important because it is India's goal to reduce the nuisance of pirates in the Indian Ocean region and prevent China's expanding face in the region. India's policy in the Indian Ocean plays a key role in stabilizing security and political issues in Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles and Sri Lanka. The main focus of the 2021 exercise was to enhance inter-efficiency between the armed forces of India and the Maldives, for that this exercise has conducted sports and cultural activities including counter-emergency and counter-terrorism operations. This exercise helps the two countries' forces to understand each other's exercises and methods, overcome language barriers, and also help identify weapons, thus eliminating many problems in various fields, including war.
