WORLD'S LARGEST HYDROGEN FUEL CELL POWER PLANT HAS BEEN INAUGURATED IN SOUTH KOREA :
World's largest hydrogen fuel cell power plant has been inaugurated in South Korea. The power plant has been inaugurated at Korea Southern Power's Shinincheon Bitdream headquarters in Seo-gu Incheon. The power plant has been named 'Shinincheon Bitdream Fuel Cell Power Plant'.
The total cost to complete this project is about 340 billion won or 292 million US dollars. POSCO Energy and Doosan Fuel Cell are in charge of operating the power plant. This POSCO Energy and Doosan Fuel Cell is an independent power generation company in South Korea. Construction of the power plant began in 2017. It is built in four stages and has a capacity of 78.96 kWh. The power plant will supply electricity to about 250,000 homes every year. Since hydrogen fuel cells do not produce electricity through high-temperature combustion, they produce very small amounts of nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides compared to regular generators. It also acts as a large-scale air purifier to clean the fine dust from the air. The power plant will clean 2.4 tons of fine dust from air every year and provide clean air for about 700,000 people to breathe.
