Uttar Pradesh Has Launched 735 Drinking Water Supply Schemes || Some Information about The New Project and Jal Jeevan Mission || 2021 ||

UTTAR PRADESH HAS LAUNCHED 735 DRINKING WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES :

      The Center has given approval of 735 drinking water supply schemes. The objective is to provide tap water connection in rural areas under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The state goes to the polls in February-March 2022. The BJP has already started campaigning as it seeks to return to power in key state.

      Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is a flagship program run by the Center. This project has been allocated on a large scale. The project will benefit 39 lakh people living in 1,262 villages in 33 districts. To date, 34 lakh out of 2.64 crore households are able to supply tap water to their homes. The state has started plans to supply tap water to 78 lakh households by 2021-22. The Ministry of Jal Shakti has provided a grant of Rs 2,400 crore to Uttar Pradesh between 2021-22. In the current financial year, the state is planning to make five districts 'Har Ghar Jal'. The state wants to start water supply to 60,009 villages by December 2021, for which the state has already informed Ministry of Jal Shakti.
