RUSSIA HAS TEST-FIRED A CRUISE HYPERSONIC MISSILE CALLED "ZIRCON" :

Russia has fired another successful test of its Zircon hypersonic cruise missile. It is one of the latest additions to the Russia's arsenal of weapons named "invincible" by President Vladimir Putin. Russia has made the announcement on Thursday, November 18.

The hypersonic missile Zircon is capable of flying five times faster than the speed of sound and has a range of 1,000 kilometres. As a result, tracking or intercepting them is much more difficult than traditional projectiles. The Zircon missile has been fired from the Admiral Gorshkov warship, according to a military statement. An experimental target was set up in the waters of the Russia's Arctic for it. According to the statement, the missile hit the target with a "direct hit". Zircon has already completed several experimental launches in recent years. Among these, its launch was completed from Admiral Gorshkov warship once more and from a sunken submarine. The Zircon missile is thought to be ready to be combined with the Avangard Hypersonic glide vehicle. This Avangard Hypersonic glide vehicle was added to the Russian arsenal in 2009.
