PRESIDENT RAM NATH KOVIND HAS HONOURED NEPAL'S ARMY CHIEF AS HONORARY "GENERAL OF THE INDIAN ARMY" :

      Nepal's Army Chief Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma has been honoured as the "General of the Indian Army". President of India Ram Nath Kovind has honoured the Army Chief of Nepal. This practice has been going on since 1950.

      Gen Sharma is in India on a four-day visit. He is in India to observe in detail ways to expand bilateral defense cooperation. According to a tweet from Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Ram Nath Kovind honoured Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma, Army Chief of Nepal at a special investment ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. When Indian Army Chief Gen M. M. Naravane visited Nepal last year, in November 2020, he was honoured with the honorary title of "General of the Nepal Army". Gen Sharma has met with Chief of Defense Staff Gen Bipin Rawat to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation. Incidentally, Nepal is dependent on India for transportation of goods and services. Nepal has to enter the sea through India.
