PAKISTAN HAS LAUNCHED SUCCESSFUL FLIGHT TEST OF SHAHEEN-1A MISSILE :
Pakistan has successfully tested Shaheen-1A missile on Thursday 25 November. This Shaheen-1A missile is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a mass of 10,000 kg, a length of 12 m and an operational range of 1000 km.
The purpose of the test flight of this missile was to thoroughly re-examine the specific design and technical parameters of the weapon system. Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj, Director General of Strategic Plans Division, Dr Raza Samar, Chairman of NESCOM, Lt Gen Muhammad Ali, Commander of Army Strategic Forces Command and the scientists and engineers of strategic organizations have witnessed the launch of the missile. Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj has congratulated the scientists and engineers of this flight test, and highly appreciated the technical ability, dedication and commitment of the scientists and engineers for this excellent contribution. The Government of Pakistan has also congratulated the scientists and engineers for this achievement. The development of Shaheen was started by Pakistan in 1995. The test flight of Shaheen-1 was launched on 15 April 1999 and it was handed over to the Pakistan Army in 2003. Shaheen-1, a Pakistani land-based supersonic and short-to-medium range surface-to-surface guided ballistic missile, was designed and developed in a joint effort by the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) and the National Defense Complex (NDC).
