Justice M. Duraiswamy Has Been Appointed as Chief Justice of Madraj High Court || Some Information about M. Duraiswamy and The Madras High Court || 2021 ||

JUSTICE M. DURAISWAMY HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS CHIEF JUSTICE OF MADRAJ HIGH COURT :

      On Thursday, November 18, Justice M. Duraiswamy has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. After Sanjiv Banerjee's transfer to Meghalaya High Court, President ordered to appoint Justice M. Duraiswamy as Chief Justice. On Wednesday, November 17, the Center has informed about that order of the President.

      Justice M. Duraiswamy was born on September 22, 1960. He earned a degree in Commerce before pursuing law at Madras Law College. In 1987 he was registered as a lawyer. He served as a junior under former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court A. S. Venkatachalamoorthy. Duraiswamy is currently the most senior judge in the Madras High Court. He was appointed as a judge of the High Court on March 31, 2009, before which he was appointed as a Permanent Adviser to the Central Government in 1997. A notification has been submitted by the Center. According to the notification, Duraiswamy will be acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court as long as Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, who has been transferred from the Allahabad High Court, takes over. When Justice Bhandari is appointed to the Madras High Court, he will be acting Chief Justice. Because then he will be the most senior judge. He is a resident of Rajasthan.
