INDIAN NAVY HAS GOT SUBMARINE "VELA" :
The Indian Navy has received the submarine "Vela". Fourth scorpene submarine has arrived in Indian Navy under Project-75, Yard 11878. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) is building six scorpene-designed submarines in collaboration with France's M/s Naval Group. It has been named Project-75.
This new INS Vela submarine was launched on 6 May 2019. It has since successfully passed all major harbour and sea tests, including weapons and sensor trials, despite the Covid restrictions. Three Scorpene class submarines are working with the Indian Navy. These scorpene submarines are capable of conducting versatility such as surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying, area surveillance, etc. According to the Ministry of Defense, this latest addition will soon be added to the Indian Navy and this Vela submarine will enhance the capabilities of the Indian Navy. It is further stated that submarine construction is a very complex process as it requires very small equipment and requires rigorous expertise.
