BORDER ROADS ORGANISATION HAS GOT THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS :
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has recently set a Guinness World Records for the construction and blackening of the world's highest motorable roads in the Union Territory of Ladakh. This road passes through Umlingla Pass, 19,024 feet 0.73 inches or 5798.251 meters above sea level.
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Director General Rajeev Chaudhary has received the Guinness World Records Certificate. The highest motorable road has been constructed under BRO's Project HIMANK (93RCC / 753 BRTF). The road runs from Chisumle to Demchok and is 52 kilometers long. In a press release issued by the Ministry of Defense, Guinness World Records official adjudicator Rishi Nath has acknowledged the BRO's remarkable achievement in building the world's highest roads. Guinness World Records took four months to verify BRO's performance by five different surveyors. BRO's Lt. Gen. Chaudhary said there were many challenges involved in building the road. He added that when temperatures dropped to minus 40 degrees in winter and oxygen levels dropped, the efficiency of humans and machines would be greatly affected.
