CHHATTISGARH INAUGURATED DUNG ELECTRICITY GENERATION TECHNOLOGY :

      After implementing the plan to purchase dung at Rs 2 per kg, Chhattisgarh has now shifted its focus to power generation from dung. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, inaugurated the power generation project on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Saturday. Inaugurating the project at a farmers' conference at Bemetara district headquarters in Chhattisgarh, Baghel said that villagers, women and youth would participate in green energy production in the state.

      According to Baghel, the whole world is worried about global warming. Green energy is being discussed everywhere, so the Government has decided to generate electricity from dung. He further said that one unit per all Chhattisgarh villages will be set up to generate electricity from dung. These units will be stationed at Gauthan, where the cows are kept. Dung collected from farmers under Godhan Nyay Yojana would be used for generate electricity, this will benefit the women of the self-reliant group working in dung collection along with the benefits of the environment. According to a news report, in the first phase of the plan, dung power generation units have been set up at Rakhi in Bemetara district, Sikola in Durg and Banchroda in Raipur district. Biogas plants, scrubbers and genset have been installed in Gauthans. Biogas will be made by mixing dung and water in a biogas tank, which contains 50 percent methane gas from which electricity will be produced by running a genset.
