SIKKIM BANNED PACKAGED MINERAL WATER :

      Sikkim state government took a decision to ban packaged mineral water from January 1, 2022. Tourists are being advised not to bring packaged mineral water bottles with them when they arrive in Sikkim. The Sikkim government wants to keep the environment healthy and clean and protect natural resources from destruction through this decision.

      Chief Minister of Sikkim P. S. Tamang delivered a speech at a clean-up drive organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. According to him, after banning packaged mineral water, the state of Sikkim will instead supply water from natural resources. It will be a healthy initiative. Now the government has started monitoring to ensure that packaged water bottles can not enter the state from outside. It has already been banned in several parts of the state, including North Sikkim. The state of Sikkim has abundant natural water resources, which will meet the water needs of the entire state. So these eco-friendly initiatives have been taken. The state of Sikkim had earlier stopped the use of chemical fertilizers and the sale and use of chemical pesticides. Sikkim has improved since then and now it became 100 per cent organic state.
