VARANASI HAS LAUNCHED ROPEWAY ROPEWAY SERVICE FOR PUBLIC :
A ropeway system has been introduced in the city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh for public transport services. This ropeway will run from Cantt Railway Station (Varanasi Junction) to Church Square (Godauliya). Other stations on this ropeway will be at Sajan Tiraha, Rathyatra and Girjaghar crossings.
Varanasi is the first city in India which city has planned to launch this ropeway service to the public. The total cost of starting this system is around Rs 424 crore. Hopefully, this ropeway will cover 4.2 km in just 15 minutes. About 220 trolley cars will be used for this service. The trolley cars will run 45 meters above the ground and each will have seating for 10 people. The service will be fast and efficient as trolley cars will run between 90 seconds and 120 seconds and the service will be available to the public at night. This ropeway will make Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Dashashwamedh Ghat easily accessible to devotees and tourists. These rope stations will showcase the city's art, culture and religion. Bolivia, the first country in the world, and Mexico City, the second country, have this ropeway service.
