Word Heart Day - 29th September 2021

WORLD HEART DAY :

      World Heart Day is celebrated on September 29 every year. The main purpose of this day is to raise awareness among the public about heart related diseases. Different health related organizations also participate to increase courage among the people.

      According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular diseases kill approximately 17.9 million people worldwide each year and cause for 32% of all deaths worldwide. This disease is responsible for most of the human deaths, the number one killer. Prior to 2014, this day was celebrated on the last Sunday of September. Since September 29, 2014, September 29 had been scheduled for this day. This day was first celebrated on September 24, 2000 in collaboration of World Heart Federation (WHF) and World Health Organization (WHO). The main purpose of this day is to make everyone a healthy hearted person by providing adequate and correct education among the people.

SPECIAL NOTES FOR ASPIRANTS :

• This day is celebrated every year to raise public awareness about Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) including Stroke and various heart diseases.

• The theme of 2021 was "Use heart to connect".

• This day was first observed on September 24, 2000 in collaboration of WHF and WHO.

• This day is celebrated on 29th September every year.

• The current President of World Heart Federation (WHF) is Prof. Fausto Pinto.

• WHF is a non-governmental organization, which based in Geneva was formed in 1972.
