WORLD FOOD DAY :
World Food Day is celebrated around the world on October 16 every year. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United States was established on October 16, 1945. This establishment day is commemorated by celebrating World Food Day. The day is widely celebrated by the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development, as well as many other organizations related to hunger and food security.
According to the FAO, the world produces enough food to feed everyone. But despite that, about 800 million people suffer from malnutrition, 60 percent of whom are women. Eighty percent of the world's extremely poor live in rural areas, most of them dependent on agriculture. Malnutrition causes more deaths annually than malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS combined deaths. 45 percent of infant mortality is directly related to malnutrition. By celebrating this day, a resolution has been made that the world will produce 60 percent more food to feed the growing population in between 2050. FAO is working with government, civil society, the private sector and other partners to achieve #ZeroHunger.
