WORLD ANIMAL DAY :
World Animal Day is celebrated around the world on October 4 every year. This day is celebrated to emphasize the rights and welfare of animals and to create public awareness about the protection of endangered species. Important animal related education is imparted in schools and colleges on this day.
Heinrich Zimmermann, a German writer, originated this day. He first organized World Animal Day on 24 March 1925 in Berlin, Germany. More than 5,000 people attended the first activity. Later, in May 1931, at the International Animal Protection Congress in Florence, Italy, the proposal to observe October 4 as World Animal Day was unanimously adopted. According to a survey report, about 56 billion animals are killed worldwide each year. Fish or any aquatic animals are not counted here because their deaths are not countable. This means that about 3000 animals are killed every second around the world.
