SOUTH KOREA HAS LAUNCHED THEIR FIRST INDIGENOUS ROCKET NURI :
South Korea has launched their first indigenous rocket Nuri. Another name for this Nuri rocket is KSLV-II (Korean Space Launch Vehicle-II). The space rocket reached its desired height, but failed to deliver a dummy payload into orbit during its first test launch. South Korean President Moon Jae-in was present at the launch site to observe the whole incident. Even after the failure, he described the test as a "excellent achievement".
South Korea has spent 2 trillion Korean won in making the three-stage Nuri since 2010. Nuri is a three-stage launch vehicle. It is the successor to Naro-1 (KSLV-1). Korea Aerospace Research Institute has built this Nuri rocket. This Nuri rocket is South Korea's fully indigenous orbital launch vehicle because its three-stage engine is made in South Korea. The Naro-1 vehicle was Russia-built. Although the rocket reached the desired orbit, the third stage stopped about 50 seconds before the plan. For this the dummy payload could not achieve the speed of orbit. The payload consisted of 1.5 tons of stainless steel and aluminum blocks and the payload was ejected 700 km above the surface.
