INTERNATIONAL STUTTERING AWARENESS DAY :

International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) is celebrated around the world on October 22 every year. This day is also called International Stammering Awareness Day. This day has been observed since 1998. The day was first held in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Millions of people in this world suffer from "stuttering" problems, and by celebrating this day everyone is made aware of the problems they have.

Stuttering is a speech disorder. Affected people get stuck talking (this is called a block), repeating a word over and over again, so they can't say anything correctly. On this day, SLPs (Speech Language Pathologists) and consumers are allied. They learn from each other, work together so that they can educate each other and the general public that stuttering has a profound effect on people's lives. International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) is celebrated by three organizations. These are the European League of Stuttering Associations (ELSA), the International Fluency Association and the International Stuttering Association.
