INDIA RANKED 101 IN GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2021 :
India was grabbed 101 rank in the 2021 Global Hunger Index (GHI). In the previous year, India's position was 94 in this ranking. As a result, India has lagged behind South Asian neighbors Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal this year. India reacted angrily on Friday, saying the manner in which the rankings were determined was unscientific. Everyone was surprised that how India's rank went down.
This Global Hunger Index (GHI) prepares rankings based on the country's hunger and malnutrition rate. 18 countries, including China, Brazil and Kuwait, were at the top of the rankings, with scores below 5. This report was compiled by the Irish health agency Concern Worldwide and the German agency Welt Hunger Hilfe. The report put India's hunger level at an "alarming" level. This GHI score is based on four indicators, these are malnutrition; child wasting or the number of children under the age of five who weigh less than their height; stunting children or the number of children under the age of five whose height is lower than their age; and infant mortality. According to the report, Covid-19 has severely affected people and India has the highest rate of child wasting in the world due to pandemic restrictions. According to the report, India's neighbors such as Bangladesh (76), Nepal (76), Myanmar (71) and Pakistan (92) are also at the "alarming" stage of starvation, but nonetheless these countries have fed their people at a much better rate than India.
