TELANGANA CELEBRATES BATHUKAMMA FESTIVAL :

      The Bathukamma festival in the state of Telangana is a colorful flower festival, celebrated by women with flowers growing in each region. The festival symbolizes the cultural identity of Telangana and is the main festival of the state. This Bathukamma festival is held at the end half of the rainy season and before starting of winter. The festival has started from 6th October 2021 and will end on 14th October 2021.

      During the Bathukamma festival, women collect colorful seasonal flowers, arrange the flowers in a large plate at a cone shape and place a small statue of the goddess Gowri on top of it. Then they worship that idol. This conical bathukamma is usually made using locally available seasonal flowers, such as gunuka / gunugu poolu and tangedu poolu. Some flowers like banti (marigold), chamanti (chrysanthemem), tiya gummadi puvvu (yellow pumpkin flower), gaddi puvvu (daffodil) etc. are also used in flower arrangement. According to the custom of this festival, married women go to their father's house to celebrate this festival, for a week they make small bathukamma, play around it and then float it in a nearby pond.
