World Environmental Day - 2021

WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DAY :

      Since 2011, 26 September has been celebrated every year as World Environmental Health Day.

      It was established that year by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH), an organization of 44 member countries, with the aim of raising awareness about environment's health.

SPECIAL NOTES FOR ASPIRANTS :

• The theme of this edition is "Prioritising environmental health for healthier communities in the global recovery". Here "global recovery" represents recovery from ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

• The theme is based on the "Manifesto for Healthy Recovery from Covid-19" published by the World Health Organization on May 26, 2020 and based on six key concepts, according to IFEH.

• The theme of last year was "Environmental health, a key public health intervention in disease pandemic prevention".

• Environmental organization will hold various events around the world on the occasion, calling on the national government to launch a national programme on the occasion of the day.

• Susana Paixao, who is the heads of IFEH, delivered a speech and said "It is necessary for the world to understand that there is an integral connection between environmental, health and economy. Hence, it becomes important to invest in healthy and green recovery, close to all communities, with support from the environmental health workforce and in collaboration with our organization. This is how we selected the theme for this year".

• IFEH was established on 1986. The main aim is to focus on scientific and technological research on environmental health and to exchange ideas on the same subject.

• The headquarters of IFEH was located in London.
